Pro Tools is and has been an industry standard for many years.  In my opinion, nothing else even comes close in terms of quality, flexibility and most importantly the open end architecture design, or ability to use an endless number of third party plug-ins.  If you’re considering a career in audio it’s a must, since most professional studios are running this platform.

There are many books and training DVDs on Pro Tools, but the best training is still hands-on with a professional at your side.  Everything makes more sense this way. There is the satisfaction of getting immediate answers to your questions, and seeing and hearing what those answers are. I can speak first hand on the necessity of having a personal instructor, since I first learned from a Digidesign certified instructor in New York City.
